Trade Associations

A H Marks has active membership of several trade associations, principally the Chemical Industries Association (CIA), Specialised Organic Chemicals Sector Association (SOCSA) and the Crop Protection Association (CAA).  Membership of these organisations underline the Company's approach to its business and its commitment to health, safety and environmental protection. The benefits derived are briefly described below.

The CIA is the chemical industry's leading trade and employer organisation, embracing all the industry's trade sectors, product types and business activities.  The overriding priority of the association is to resist actual and potential obstacles, both technical and legislative that threaten the international competitiveness of the UK chemical industry.

Responsible Care is the chemical industry's international, voluntary initiative which aims for continuous improvement in all aspects of health, safety and environmental performance.  The UK programme, which is managed by the Chemical Industries Association, is founded on a self-imposed commitment by chief executives of all member companies to a set of guiding principles that are supplemented by codes and guidance documents on best practice.  This commitment is a condition of membership of the association.

SOCSA is a sector association within the Chemical Industries Association.  Its mission is to enhance the identity and international competitive position of the UK specialised organics industry.

The CPA supports and promotes the interests of major distributors and manufacturers of crop protection, amenity and garden products in the UK.  As the trade association for the industry, it represents the views of its members in any forum and is designed to encompass the widest possible range of interests and encourage member participation in the Association's activities.  Regular forums are held to exchange views and keep members up-to-date on issues and activities.

On an international level, the Association is a member of the European Crop Protection Association and through it, a member of GIFAP, the international group of the national associations of agrochemical manufacturers.
